"Novel developments of in vivo haploid technologies in crops", specifically sunflower and sugar beet.
Skoltech is looking for a competent and dedicated PhD student to work on the development of double haploids, which can significantly reduce the time to obtain pure lines and, as such, speed up the plant breeding program. However, there are no efficient methods for double haploidisation in sunflower and sugar beet. The main goal of the project is to implement a recent disruptive agrobiotechnology method based on the genome editing of the centromeric histone CENH3, which opens a new avenue for the generation of haploid-inducing lines.
